The artistic ability of Rod Arbogast, is far more than the bachelor of fine arts degree he holds. He is a professional artist who has been painting full time since 1976.

His painting medium is watercolor, which enables great detail in the subtle differences of color, markings and textures. Rod's sensitivity to the intrinsic appeal of fur, and his attention to detail creates an illusion of softness made by the thousands of brush strokes he carefully places in his paper.

Rod refined his watercolor techniques through many hours of painting wildlife. Having exhibited at several national waterfowl festivals, Rod began specializing in sporting dogs along with wildlife. He has been commissioned to do many other breeds of dogs over the last 10 years, working his magic on them all, from toy, to terrier, to hound, to working dog.

Rod combines his ability to paint with his instinctive ability to capture his subject's individual personality and expression. Rod creates a strong eye in which he masterfully establishes a real connection into the heart and soul of his subject. Beloved pet or majestic show dog, hard working gun dog or proud mom with her pups, their very essence and spirit are captured for eternity.
